I hate the show !

We are guessing Doug…
Plus you have not heard it… We know…

“We are the Bjork. You will be screamed at.”
June 6th, 2008 at 3:17 am
Since Dave didn’t want to add the Mac Lab links I’ve put them in now.
June 6th, 2008 at 3:57 am
Oh… and now that I’ve gotten to the end of the show, I’d just like to say that BlueTooth is a great technology for connecting devices together (something that wi-fi isn’t really intended for because of it’s long range). My bluetooth headset is paired with my phone and my macbook, and my bluetooth mouse is paired with the macbook too.
An additional bonus comes from the bluetooth connection is actually encrypted unlike a raw wi-fi connection, or the usual RF connection between keyboards and computers.
There. I said it.
June 6th, 2008 at 9:06 am
Thanks for the insightful comments Herne… oh you got a mention in this show too… very funny
June 6th, 2008 at 10:37 am
Cait, isnt a light year a unit of distance rather than a unit of time ?? ie, a light year is the distance that light travels in a year.
June 6th, 2008 at 12:35 pm
John’s right. LYs are distance. I noticed that Sensible Units will also calculate in AUs too which is really cool.
June 6th, 2008 at 3:43 pm
Dudes. I love your show but have finally come to the conclusion that I need to listen to it in front of my computer — rater than in the car as I try. I’m always wanting to take notes or check a link you guys talk about but can’t do that in the car. I’ve been working from home today and listening to a couple shows and it’s been a much nicer, enjoyable experience — and very informative.
Love you guys….but you already know that.
Dave

I think that if you use Vista the OS is so heavy it slows down time when you use it.
June 6th, 2008 at 5:25 pm
Could it be that Keith was not on the show because he was “getting some ?”
June 6th, 2008 at 5:26 pm
“my little DVD player is Playing itself” .. ieuw !
June 6th, 2008 at 5:50 pm
@John You’re right. I tried with units of time as well, but it didn’t do those, or rods, poles and perches.
@Knightwise you sound more like vinyl than DVD, three blips in a row…
June 6th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
I dispute all the allegations that I am “just like” Knightwise!
I am probably twice his size and definitely not Belgian (although I do enjoy the odd chocolate).
“1 Light Year is the same as 14 road trips with your parents.” (circa 1970s memories)
June 6th, 2008 at 11:54 pm
Oh dear Knightwise is lurking the blog again
@Herne good one! lol
OK a bit harsh saying your like Knightwise - sorry Knightwise.
@Dave thanks for dropping by, nice words. I hear that a lot. The fact that people like to listen at the computer, sorry about that! But glad that you enjoyed the show.
Also great not to hear any complaints about the show length - try as I might, I just can’t make it happen - the damn thing is growing (blame Herne)
FOR SALE: One iPod Touch errr acquired at the airport…
Wonder where all the other usual suspects are? Guess they will crawl out when they have had a listen.
Oh and whoever posted the Lab Rat back to us - you could have refrained from using the cargo hold and the “budget” class freight - we are still trying to thaw him out
But he is mumbling something about having his technology stolen… at the airport… Oh and it turns out he was not “under the weather” as we suspected - and no he was not getting anything KW (as far as I know - he has not denied it either)… House guests gotta love em
Thanks for the Plurk invites - I’ll check it out when I get the chance. Time this week has been non existent.
OK I am brain dead and going to sleep now… wake me if anything happens.
June 6th, 2008 at 11:58 pm
Oh and I apologize to Doug - it was not he that wrote the first comment.
Blame Knightwise for that one.

Since Cait asked - I use two programs to cut up MP3 files. Audiobook cutter (which was recommended on the show) and also Mega MP3 Splitter from MegaSoft which allows a more customised split and it’s fast http://www.megax.it/
June 8th, 2008 at 9:56 pm
Not to worry - the real Doug is here and he has listened!!! Gotta love the long weekend!!
Also, talking about lasers a little while back made me buy one!! Ordered a green 5mW cheapie on eBay from Honk Kong - I want to see if customs pick it up! Should get it hopefully this week….
Sensible units - what a crack up!!!
NSFW - WTF IS THAT??? I know now!! I’ve been seeing it all over the place, thought it had something to do with NSW…hmmmmm…
@ Keith - Your mac segment, and the fact vista just pisses me off, has made me think out the purchase of a mac mini for my music (to connect to iPod), videos and all that stuff to play in my room setup One question though (if you, or someone else knows, that would be great!), can you just use a normal keyboard and mouse (Not a mac one). Apparently a new revised mini is due out soon.
That brings me to talk about “WWDC ‘08″. Happening 3am Tuesday morning (Sydney time anyway) apparently meant to be the release of the 3G iPhone and confirmation (or not) on the iPhone being released in Australia on the 19th June! Not that I will be buying one!!My iPod touch does me fine (wish it had a camera, but that would be unusual on an iPod)!! Can’t see myself carrying around a PDA sized (and fragile) phone.
Might be on your next show aye?
June 9th, 2008 at 1:14 am
@Doug that would be a yes - you can use any keyboard on a mac - even that 10 buck one from K-mart
and yes to the mouse as well - neither have to be white, branded apple and over priced. From what I can gather a lot of Mac users buy a “normal” mouse anyway. Oh and LOL about the NSFW… damn that is funny.

Hi guys,
a great show as usual, the longer shows are fine with me.
Glad to hear you are back on delicious again as well.
Just to be different i went to sign up at Jaiku the other day, and you have to wait for an invite! Have they gone back into “beta” since google bought them?
Posting this from my new Nokia E61, and lovin’ mobile internet!
June 9th, 2008 at 3:18 pm
Bluetooth in OSX is great for syncing podcasts and pictures to my N80. If TPN wants to pay for the shipping I can loan you my N80 for a few months. You provide the new mac. btw - Old computers can use a lot of electricity. I have managed to always give mine away.
Did I hear a parakeet in this episode?
June 9th, 2008 at 3:59 pm
Nope no birds as far as I was aware… it was dark so they should have been sleeping anyway
June 9th, 2008 at 7:23 pm
You riding the Belgians Ass again Dave ! Trying to provoke me ? I’m not the ONLY Belgian you know.. Although I might be the only good-looking one. I apologize for the Belgian newspapers .. I’m very embarrassed about their behavior. Small country .. big mouth and all that.
June 9th, 2008 at 7:25 pm
@herne : you’re not twice my size, you are however three times as ugly !
June 9th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
@Knightwise me? little me? Plus I thought you were the only Belgian… Sorry… you know it is small enough for one man to call it his own empire/country/backyard… I mean if you guys want to all live nice and intimate like - I guess you could fit a few in…
@dicky thanks for listening dude - thought we had lost ya!
@Eric thanks for the comments about Bluetooth - seriously though I don’t know anyone that uses it and anyone that has tried has not had stellar success with it. But seems there are a few GGP’ers out there that think it is tops. Cool as
June 10th, 2008 at 1:29 pm
Hmm I have a bluetooth keyboard and it works great. I think Bluetooth is pretty good and works well, at least on the Mac.
Jim Lauderback (sp?) the current CEO of Revision 3 was on TWIT last week explaining what happened with DDOS attack and he also wrote up an awesome blog post about it. Media Defender should have their asses handed to them.
Can’t believe the Belgian papers are still going on with this stupid lawsuit against Google. All Google does is link to their stories, surely that’s a benefit not costing them anything.
Belgian choccy is good, tho I think Haigh’s in Sydney is better. if your in Sydney you should check it out near Strand Arcade.
June 10th, 2008 at 2:38 pm
That song wasn’t too bad. Why was it dedicated to me? I fit in everywhere and with everyone
June 10th, 2008 at 3:00 pm
I am only half way through, good to see the show is back and keeping up.
@Dave, how dare you renovate your house and disrupt the show (yes im joking).
Cheers

I’ve tried to send you an extremely long email,
One that I spent an entire day writing. Its long &with my Generalized Dystonia ( GD - http://phpurl.com/ds ) leaving me with only one hand… well it took a lot of time &effort. Now its being bounced back saying it contains spam or virus related material; wwhich it doesn’t. A lot of time &thought is all that I’ve put in it.
I’m guess you really didn’t like my message. This is the second large message I’ve tried to send. Only to have it returned. Well the first time it just “disappeared”.
I wish I’d known you hated my messages that badly, color HTML, or whatever the reason is. I could, I guess should, have used my energy for something that was at least wanted &would be accepted. Either that or your spam filter’s set to high or its just broke. I’m hope the former… but I know its prolly the latter.
Regardless I do hope that you all are doing wonderfully, take care, &best wishes,
Kaity G. B.; et. al.
June 10th, 2008 at 11:33 pm
@Blogslut we blamed you for the music choice because you sent us pink emails… I thought we mentioned that?
Thanks for the chocky tip!
Shame KW has not been back after my taunt… he is probably saving up his comeback… which is a bit of a worry
