186 GigaFlops in a Chest of Drawers

I came across an article today speaking about a guy in Sweeden who put together a linux-based 3D rendering farm that he could run in his own house.  The remarkable part: he built a six-node cluster and used an Ikea Helmer drawer unit as the case… for all six nodes.

It’s an amazing piece of engineering, yet so simple in concept.  Janne has provided a bunch of other pictures on his website.  They’re worth a look.  A perfect example of function over form, and simply doing what’s necessary to “make it work”.
