  1. Honest Ape Says:

Will listen tomorrow. Glad the long wait is over!

  2. Travis Says:

Great to hear you guys back. Well done. Does that mean then 2nd half is coming out soon or as per the usual schedule (when there was a usual schedule).

  3. Blogslut Says:

You could have put the most important part of the show in the first chunk..aka The mac news and apps.

I think there is an obvious bias to inferior products in that part of the show….

  4. Eric Says:

    wow. I feel disoriented.

    joking.again.

I’m happy to hear you kids again.

Thank God. I would have bought a 900$ useless windows mobile device any day.

btw - revision3 is worth more than digg. It has a future.

    Did I complain?

    me?

    complain?

  5. Global Geek Says:

OK so the go is that I will post the next chunk in the next day or so… is that the usual schedule? I don’t know that we have one :P

@BlogSlut: Don’t blame me - it was a time thing and I don’t choose the items for it either - blame Keith… Keith mate where are ya - you are supposed to defend your honor etc… plus BlogSlut - not my fult you can only find shit apps for your platform…

@Eric: Glad to hear that it didn’t go that far… I am somewhat pleased we saved you…

@Honest Ape: Great to have picked you up… with a name like that on the comment roll I can’t afford to lose you now (@Herne - was that the right lose?)… Thanks guys we were really unsure that we were talking to anyone this week :\

    Thank You

  6. Blogslut Says:

Yea good one chook man. Even if I was only a Windows user I wouldn’t use any of those programs.

I don’t think there are any shit programs in OSX. I could be wrong but I don’t think so.

  7. Dave Gray Says:

@BlogSlut “chook man” geeze… things are getting worse round here… we have an ape now, a blog slut, a lab rat, chooks, knightwise miss anyone?

  8. Herne Says:

I did not foul myself as Dave suggested, although if FF decides it wants to start tracking users, then I will be forced to look at something like Safari or Opera as my browser of choice… At least until someone makes a plug-in to shut it all off, which would probably take about a week.

More comments when I have time.

  9. Knightwise Says:

ok , I haven’t listened to the show yet, So I’ll go ahead and “do a doug”. Two CHUNKS ! First you slack of for 3 fracking weeks and then you do a double whopper ? What i’m i supposed to do ? Take a day off work to listen to all that (As a matter of fact , i’ll just do that !) Seriously. If Herne wasn’t so ugly, Doug wasn’t so stubborn, Kate wasn’t so Hot, Keith wasn’t so Daft and Dave wasn’t such an arse.. I would NEVER listen to the show at all .. but .. since you all are .. I will.

  10. Global Geek Says:

@Herne what you think those guys don’t track anything? :P

  11. Honest Ape Says:

What the hell is up with Cait not being in the header? You guys sexist or something? How many shows does she have to be in?

This some kind of boy’s club?

    :P

  12. Herne Says:

@KW Speaking of slacking… where’s the new Knightcast?!

    Sheesh…he moves house and can’t do a podcast… ;)

  13. Herne Says:

    @Honest Ape Hear hear!

  14. Global Geek Says:

In all honesty I don’t think you’ll see Cait in the header - she is camera shy… But yeah we know the header is getting old and KW is making the place look untidy - we are working on it… that’s all I can say right now.

  15. Burritoe Says:

Awesome to hear you all back in full force. Hey Keith, turn your mic back up, what happend the booming Thor like audio you had, during the long break the gremlins must of gotton to it. Maybe it just me, I have a hard time listening to Canadians anyway.

Great part A of a show.

  16. Mac Lab Rat - GGP #084 :: We Have Chunks | K's Weblog Says:

[...] so jam-packed with geeky goodness, Dave had to split the show into two chunks.  You can find both Chunk A and Chunk B on the GGP [...]

  17. Jeffro2pt0 Says:

Wow, glad to hear you guys are back. Really enjoyed part one of the show but I have to chip in my part. CNN does use Twitter and so do a number of other major media outlets. They usually have an account on twitter which is used primarily as syndication. I follow the CNN Breaking news twitter account and thats where I heard about the ted kennedy brain tumor news. Also, Cait mentioned using Twitter for search and rescue or communication purposes. I believe Twitter was used by firefighters in southern California during the huge fires they had their.

  18. George Says:

Good to hear you are back guys. Part A down, Part B down on monday.

  19. Global Geek Says:

@Jeff yeah I did remember that after the show, but there are not “that” many and I reckon they are using it mainly as a marketing tool as opposed to a communication tool. But true they are using it.

  20. Matt Says:

    Welcome back.

The saga continues, it appears that FeedDemon still has some issues - for some reason I am persevering with it. I received notice of this podcast (together with Part B and 23 other items) today.

I noticed that one of the blog items was about FeedDemons update to V2.7. I’ve downloaded that and see how it goes.

  21. Jeffro2pt0 Says:

FeedDemon 2.7 has been an awesome upgrade for me. I’ve really noticed the performance improvements, especially when it comes to updating all of the feeds.

  22. The all important Doug Says:

    Phew…I can breathe now!!!
Good show, and I HAVE listened to this chunk and most of the second!!
And about the lasers, I love them!! in NSW it is now illegal to have them, unless you have some sort of permit (which I don’t think is released yet) or have a low-powered one and have a genuine reason for having it (yeah, good luck policing that!!)

Also (little off topic), the new eeePC is set to be released VERY soon in Australia. $599, which seems not to bad. I won’t be rushing to buy it anytime soon though. They are still using the same processor and a crap battery. The new Atom processors are going to be put into them when they are realeased!!
Anyway, will comment on B AFTER listening to it!!

  23. Matt Says:

Good show. Dave you can install Firefox 3 RC1 in a totally separate folder and it won’t effect the current version. Will uninstall without a problem - give it a go, it’s quite good and Adblock Plus works with it.

  24. Dave Gray Says:

@Matt I really do not think this issue is with FeedDemon - it is the feed. We talk a bit about it in the next show. Please do persevere with FD it is a great feed reader and not one worth giving up because it is borking over one feed. I am positive that it is the issues with the feed itself.

Good point about Firefox. Might give that a shot if and when I have the time. Ha nice point about AdBlock - trust adblock - if nothing else it blocks the Google Ads which I hate with a passion (I did not add them here :))

@Jeff Yup I agree I have noticed a huge performance boost with FD2.7 - very nice upgrade just for that reason. You also notice that on Nick’s Blog there are some very nice add ons for search, such as tweetscan and Techmeme. Updating is most definitely a lot faster and the panic button coming up at the finish of updating is nice too. I often start it up and walk away, nice that it doesn’t stop the updating now. Lots of very nice tweaking going on there.

@Burritoe Keith is having some issues with Mic technique - the gear is fine just a PEBKAC issue…
