Add to that the value of it as a subscription-based broadcast IM service for getting simple questions answered “What blogging platform do you use?” either for polling or research for yourself…

Do we need to know when, as he put it, “Knightwise farts on the Internet”? Probably not. But, to extend the metaphor, it’s nice to know that there’s a platform available that will at least let us know when the restroom is free again.

The video is well done, but I’m still trying to figure out exactly WHY someone would care if I’ve, say, gone for coffee and why exactly that I would want to Twitter that fact? Some people just go hog wild on Twitter almost to the extent of “gone for a bowel movement” and I’m trying to understand the value of that sort of information…

Personally, I’ve tried Twitter like 3 times and still don’t get the vibe. Maybe I am the sort of person that is rarely interested in some else’s life to such a detail. If I am to read that’s somebody is drinking coffee I can very well chat about it in IM.
It’s fun I guess but no practicality in it. It’s like a modern version of the IRC. The only difference is that you don’t get 4037 ‘re’ from people when you come back to check what’s going on .
