50 Years of LEGO
It’s the 50th Birthday of the LEGO brick!
The LEGO history began in 1932 in Denmark, when Ole Kirk Christansen founded a small factory for wooden toys in the unknown town of Billund in the south of the country. To find a name for his company he organized a competition among his employees. As fate would have it however, he himself came up with the best name: LEGO – a fusion of the Danish words “LEg” and “GOdt” (“play well”).
Ahh, I have such fond memories of LEGO, from DUPLO in my fumbling kidlet fingers… to the Space sets… and the awesome LEGO Technics. Thanks for the hours of fun LEGO peeps. Here’s hoping there’s another 50 years of building, destruction and rebuilding to come.

I love lego. Absolutely love it to pieces. As a kid I spent countless hours building cars, trucks, boats and pretty much every kind of spacecraft imaginable.

I still have my Lego (and I’m old)!
And I still have hankerings to buy Lego sets when I see really neat ones in the stores… Like the Pirate set or the Castle set. Back in MY day all we had was plain old square blocks and stuff, we had to make our OWN Pirate sets!

As with the other I still like lego. Its actually good because my kids are at an age when they can play with them, which is good as it gives me an excuse to buy more.

This has inspired me to go and pick up my old Lego from my parents’ place the next time I’m over there. I’m gonna dump it out on the floor and build me a space-ship. ((probably one that splits into about 4 pieces….))
