@Brie thanks for the support. Australia is very concerned about the issue, since they do it in our backyard. The humpbacks they were planning on killing were the ones that come up our coastline every year. I was pissed when I heard they were planning on killing them. Bloody fools. What on earth can we do to stop them? Everyone knows it is all bogus research.

@Jeff nothing too geeky, but cool. Next show :)

@KW your insane, just accept that and move on...

Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed this episode of TGGP. Bringing all of those weird funky products to light was cool. I didn't know about half of them existing. And for Cait to have all kinds of shirts from Think Geek, boy oh boy, she wears her geekiness.

We ended up picking up one of those remote control helicopters from Radio Shack here in the states and that things is a pain in the rear to maneuver and keep in the air. It's crashed about 100 times but nothing on it has broken just yet.

What did Dave get for Christmas?

Oh, I should also say Happy Yule or Happy Solstice, or Happy New Year to everyone (whatever you celebrate)!

I just remembered that it's already 2008 down there in Aussieland.

I've taken to calling loose change "shrapnel" as I'm a fan of the UK and often pick up bits of slang when I'm vacationing there. Usually when I get back home it takes me a while to stop using words like "loo," "lorry," "lift," "I'll have another of the black stuff," or simply "another pint of Guinness!" and "cheers" instead of "thanks." Actually, I often pick up a lot of Aussie slang when I'm in the UK as well because 95% of the time I'm traveling with a bunch of Aussies on the package tours I take.

It's surprising how fast the loose change builds up and you really start to notice it if you're lugging around a pocket full of £1 coins, I'll tell ya! Here in Canada we have coins for $1 and $2 as well. Our $2 coin is bi-metallic and often called a "toonie," which plays off our $1 coin which we call a "loonie" because it has a Canadian loon on the reverse side. See this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_dollar

There are far too many toys for geeks in this episode. The only useful one I could see was a Flickr Pro account, but I already have one in case you were thinking about buying me a gift. I could use some Linden dollars, but I still haven't found a use for Second Life. Possibly a pirate spyglass, but I'd need the extension tubes a la Johnny Depp in Pirates III.

I also find it interesting that the prices on USB drives are dropping drastically lately. I just picked up a 4 GB USB key for $26 Canadian, which means I basically have a DVD worth of rewritable storage in my pocket! I could've also gotten two 2 GB SD cards for about the same price, but I would need to keep a reader in my pocket to use it as portable storage. Now if they'd only drop the price of the CF cards, or at least start making decent and affordable CF minidrives for my digital camera.

@Knightwise: "Temporal insanity"? You've been watching Doctor Who again, haven't you? Is the timeline making you insane, or were you merely insane in another life?

@Ian I'd never heard it until recently. Aussie expressions for loose change include: shrapnel, coinage, coins, gold or silver. We don't hsve copper money anymore, our $1 and $2 coins are gold, all other coins are silver in colour.

For the curious, our money looks like this:

Great show as ever guys. Just out of interest I'm from the UK and I've never heard the expression "poo change" before! We tend to call little bits of change either 'coppers' (because the 1p and 2p coins are copper coloured) or 'shrapnel'.

Frankly I'm shocked that Australians don't call money 'dollary doos' like The Simpsons led me to believe :)

Sorry there , temporal insanity on my part by misreading your comment. You are of course totally correct. Sony is just using the media as a sock puppet and HD is already winning the fight. But my comment on your SL adventure stands..

Jeez.. I need coffee BEFORE commenting.

@Doug :) The fact that you think that Blue ray is gonna make it is painfully undermined by your signing up to second life. This might even discount you as a reliable source. Surely temporal insanity has ensued and has steered both the HD comment and your joining to second life. We hope you recover soon ;)

Im for HD, for sure!
I was told that 5 out of 6 things (producers of movies, whats the word!!) were signed to be released on Blu-Ray, and that most movie rental companies are signed with Blu-Ray.
Blu-Ray is said to win, well thats what the media is trying to tell us (Not that the media is of any use)
And this bike computer is really interesting. I love cycling (mainly off-road), but I find this camera a gymic, and would be quite useless, but cool!
Another great show guys, should also mention you got me into SL with your show, thought I'd give it a go, and am throughly enjoying it!
