The Global Geek Podcast #072 :: The Gargle
This week in Tech we revisit airborne WiFi, the possibility of standard testing for security software and the US defence department is looking for a “virtual” firing range… not on my network mate!
Got some free software this week including one that will let you dabble with Firefox 3 beta without messing with your current install of 2.0.
Huge range of great Sites and Services this week, a science site for uber boffins, a tricky way to get to know your keyboard and a site that looks to the future.
Also; your feedback much treasured and the GGP Mac Lab Rat (he is not really a rat…)

@Doug see the post on the hoverboard development
Second KW –> it was too good not too. Very funny dude - loved it. And I am glad to see that someone listened to the show - the comments have been very slow.

Hi Guys, Listened to the show while en route to NZ this week (Flew back into Brisbane at 6:30am this morning.
Wrt the in flight wifi, i would probably use it for email etc when flying. My hotel had wifi, but the room they put me was too far away. Why then tell me it had wifi?????? Anyways, I could have done with the ability to check my emails en route home.
But as others have said, the last thing you want is phones beeping and carrying on while others are trying to rest on a flight.
Cheers

Hey Selene
Well she IS in the show a little bit (doing the end credits) but next time i’ll do a sound seeing tour i’ll try to include her. She is just as geeky as I am but a 1000 times MORE skeptical and pessimistic sometimes
December 20th, 2007 at 7:03 pm
So you’re not a fan of Dave’s rugged baritone then???
I have to say though there is something very appealing about an Aussie accent on a girl… I think it must be a result of growing up watching Neighbours every day for the last 15 years!
December 20th, 2007 at 7:15 pm
My rugged baritone… I’ll take that as a compliment
December 20th, 2007 at 7:36 pm
Aussie girls .. neighbors … Kyle Minogue with hairy armpits is all that comes to mind…
December 20th, 2007 at 8:56 pm
Been away for a little bit….behind on the comments stuff, another enjoyable podcast, That blokes email you read out pretty much stole my thunder, you’re doing great Cait
Must admit to a guilty secret, I was a paid up member of SL for a year however I never sort of hooked up with anyone in there, might try it again someday
@Knightwise might be a good idea to check the toothbrush…slightly nutty taste ?
ahhhh haaa haaaa
