I want to stress that the firmware for the Zune was excellent. I loved the changes and I noticed the increase in battery life right away. All of my hatred and anger stems from the Zune Software that is part of the firmware upgrade. This same software also comes with every new zune that is purchased aka Zune 2. If the damn software didn't change, my tone about the Zune would be completely different.

Now that I'm back on the old software and old firmware, I'm back to being a happy camper with my Zune. In fact, I noticed that after I open Itunes to download new podcasts, when I open up my Zune software, it will automatically sync my zune with those new files. It didn't do this before but I'm really digging it.

Not a good thing there Jeff. But good post none the less.

My ipod died a while back and luckily was under warranty so got replaced. Thing is, whilst i dont like the way apple do some things (replacing it was cool)the ipod is good and easy to use. Battery run time is good, but how long before this one dies is another matter.

Obviously zune may be an ok alternative.
Cheers

Ouch.

I'd recently lost my nano and have been considering alternatives, and I have to say this doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in the zune...

I'm glad you were able to restrain yourself from hammering your Zune to bits. ;)

It's a shame MS/toshiba went with MTP. If it supported standard mass storage I'd have bought one of the 30GB units for 90$ .
