Improved Map Of The Internet
Just the other day, I wrote about an article published by NewScientist which discussed an internet census that was conducted, mapping out the entire internet. The map they provided didn’t provide very much in the way of detail and at times, was difficult to read. Now, someone has taken the idea two steps further by creating a map of the internet that can be navigated similarly to the way you would browse Google Maps.
The map shows the owner of each IP address displayed via GREY SQUARES and which IP addresses are listed on the Spamhause XBL Blacklist (red dots). In total, there are 4,294,967,296 IP addresses which can be zoomed in or out upon at will. The zoom will reach all the way to 1 IP address per pixel from 65536 per pixel allowing you to go deep down inside the realms of the interweb. If you have some spare time or want to interactively check out every IP address that has been registered so far, give this one a look see.
Personally, I think it would of been much cooler had they replaced the squares with a series of TUBES.
