Google Cheat Sheet
Cheat sheets are great ways to find something quick and are useful in a pinch. The other thing that I think they are useful for is passing onto friends and family. Often the most needed, simple operations can be found using a cheat sheet. This one is no different and this time it is a Google Cheat Sheet.
Lots of useful information here including some that you might not have thought to look for. Most useful is the quick guide to advanced operators for searching Google. Once you get searching a lot you find yourself wanting to save time by using these operators. The result is that you get better more specific search results for that hard to find data.
The hard thing about using advanced operators is that it is like keyboard short-cuts, you don’t remember them because you never use them and you have to look it up everytime. But once you do start using them your productivity goes up. Now that is worth it. Chuck these up on the wall or plaster them to the desk. You’ll soon be a Google ninja in no time.
The link is to the host and the actual document is a PDF. If you are sick of Adobe Acrobat being a lame arse piece of crap that takes a million years to open then why not give Foxit Reader a go. Fast and for most users very adequate. Foxit Reader 2 has just been released!

Dave:
Thanks for the tip. The sheet is now part of my tips and tricks library.
Like you, I do not have much love for Acrobat - it is a resource consuming beast. For nearly all of my work, the installed functionality of Preview works far better, especially since the Mac OS comes with the ability to create PDF’s from any file using a simple button on the print dialog box.
I have checked with my Google contact and would love to follow up with you on the voice conversation we had a couple of days ago about my visit to Googleplex and about Streetview’s development team.

Hey Rod that’s great! I might even do it as a mid-week special or something.
Right now my Skype is on the blink
- well the network is at any rate.
Sounds tops - I’ll send you an email so that you have my private address.
