Google Offer Free Broadband via the Dunny

Those of you that have been to the Google Homepage today will have noticed that they are offering free broadband. This is a surprise move by Google and they have also managed to keep the project in stealth mode. Now not only do Google control the information they can now monitor your personal output. I have to say though that I am not that keen on the self install kit, it looks like you might have to get your hands dirty… Have a look at the date before you read on…

I have been waiting to see who would come up with one of the better April fools pranks and this isn’t bad. Free broadband offered by Google via your sewerage system. Or as Google describe it:

“Google TiSP (BETA) is a fully functional, end-to-end system that provides in-home wireless access by connecting your commode-based TiSP wireless router to one of thousands of TiSP Access Nodes via fiber-optic cable strung through your local municipal sewage lines.”

There is actually a bit of work gone into this with an intro page, graphics, an FAQ, logo, ready made “kit” plus a help group.  All stuff at their finger-tips but still a lot of effort for one gag. Nice job Google. I particularly like the TiSP Access Node, I would not want that job and I think it would be a hard sell to anyone. I have just thought, it must be a play on the whole “tubes” thing… I don’t think that the Internets will ever be the same.

So when I complain about how crappy my ISP service/speeds are I can show this diagram to a couple of buddies and explain to them that the crappy statement actually has substance :)

  5. Karl Says:

At first I thought this might explain Google’s recent purchases of mobile dark fiber. Afterall, they would need the fiber to support all the bandwidth for the high speed internet connection they are offering. Too bad this is just an april fool joke.
