Web 2.0 is Good for Watching Stupid People

We here at the Geek often praise the advent of Web 2.0 technologies for their usefulness. However, we sometimes come across stuff that if it was not for Web 2.0 we would never see, it involves acts of stupidity. Yes the world is a better place for the fact that we can catch those moments when individuals misplace their brain and do something stupid.

This is a good thing, it means that we don’t have to do it and we don’t risk injury (other than RSI). This video is of a Norwegian skier who stacked his skill against the longest escalator in Europe:

Although this little stunt did not impress officials:

“a dangerous, stupid and irresponsible act that could have resulted in serious injury or death to not only the individual concerned but also other passengers”

Don’t try this one again as it is one of those things that while they were unaware of it being a possibility the first time they add this warning for any “copy-cats”:

“LU will press for the police to take the strongest possible action against anyone attempting a similar act on the Tube network.”

Creativity and physical self preservation abandonment at it’s best.

he is mental! I’ve been on plenty of those escalators and just standing at the top looking down is enough to give you altitude sickness!
the video doesn’t show just how steep it is!

  2. Jeffro Says:

Hey I even have this video up on my blog! I thought this was a cool idea and I’m glad I witnessed someone else do it and not myself. I have to admit though, that is one hella long escalator.

  3. George Says:

If that escalator is anything like the ones I saw when I was in DC last year (im assuming it may be longer) he deserves some form of a reward for a)being crazy enough to do it, and b) doing it.

I still cant work out how he managed to stop so quick, alsthough im assuming his skis were slightly “rougher” at the bottom than the top.
