With all this talk about twitter I have decided to put this up on the blog this week rather than cover it in the next show. Twitteroo is a twitter client for Windows users.

One of the drawbacks of twitter is that if you are not using your phone and going mobile with it you are somewhat chained to the twitter web page to update. I covered a new Firefox Extension last week called twitterbar. It is an excellent extension that allows you to post directly from the Firefox Address bar. I use it and like it. But say you don’t want another extension or you don’t want to be chained to a webpage? Enter Twitteroo.

Twitteroo is a downloadable client that allows you to update you twitter directly from the desktop. Other notable features include:

• View the Friends or Public Timeline
• Clickable Links from status window
• Manual or automatic refresh
• Browse twitter
• Customizable transparency and fonts
• Sound notification

One nice feature that is not talked about on the front page or the blog that you will want to know about: Install Twitteroo as per normal. Then copy the twitteroo.exe and the .wav files to a USB memory stick. What you have now is a mobile twitter posting client that you can use anywhere there is a Windows PC! This is an undocumented feature, but it is said to work well. Knightwise this might solve your mobile client issue, but it is a Windows Only solution. In my opinion this is where I think they should really sink their development into this bit and make it a feature as opposed to a hidden feature. This would be a very attractive option for a lot of people and I like the idea.

There looks to be constant development of this client and there is a timeline for future features that are planned and have been implemented on the Twitteroo Blog. Check out the screenshots on Flickr or the homepage.
