Surprise! iPhone Announced
This was totally unexpected in every respect. The big news today out of Macworld is that Apple have announced their version of the iPhone!
This is especially strange since Linksys announced mid December their version of the iPhone. Skype Blogs also reported the story and added that Cisco trademarked the “iPhone” in the 90′s. A few things might have occurred here. Either Apple has paid a heap of money to Linksys for the trademarked name. The whole Linksys thing was a publicity stunt by Apple. Or maybe Apple are risking yet another lawsuit? With the wars that occur over trademarks and patients I can not see how these 2 products can exist simultaneously.
That said the iPhone is indeed a reality combining a phone, wide screen iPod interface and powerful Internet capabilities. It runs on Mac OSX and it looks very sleek and typically “Mac Functional”. There has been some deal with Google and Yahoo! with integration of their services. The iPhone will be available in June.
Check out all the details and watch the keynote, damn this thing is nice. Not that I want one I have since watched the keynote… now I want one, but it certainly looks awesome and very functional. If you have not watched this keynote you should. I was blown away. What hope does the Zune have when it is up against this? Any of it, Apple are kicking butt with this stuff.
