Flickr Spreads some Christmas Cheer
Despite all the peanut butter talk with Yahoo! services. Flickr announced today that their service just got better all round.
Pro users, you now have unlimited everything:
- Unlimited uploads
- Unlimited storage
- Unlimited bandwidth
- Unlimited photosets
- Permanent archiving of high-resolution original images
- The ability to replace a photo
- Ad-free browsing and sharing
Free account holders you now get 100MB worth of bandwidth to play with. I was not aware of this but if you have a free account, after 200 images the photos are resized and archived. That means those of you that use your free account and use the images in web pages, blogs etc better upgrade before you hit 200. Otherwise all those full sized images will shrink on the page! Don’t worry the originals are in the bowels of Flickr and will be resurrected if you get a pro account.
That and the cost of hosting your own images is enough to go pro for me! Been thinking of doing it for ages… Please feel free.
