Hey Brie! Thank you and we appreciate your feedback. Great to know that we have improved the show and that it is working for you.

We have not had that much feedback about the changes and refinements that we have made over the last 10 shows. So we REALLY appreciate it.

Cheers!

[...] UPDATE: finally got round to listening to the Global Geek Podcast on TPN, as Dave Gray mentioned that Rich was giving away a few hints on there. Go listen to the whole thing for yourself, but I will say online audio and video were mentioned… (and yes, I must admit I didn’t listen to the whole podcast, I’m not geek enough for that quite yet! ) Published December 15th, 2006 | in Technology, Internet fun and WA.| [...]

Hi guys!

Dean Worth here, creator of Chinswing. Just wanted to clarify and explain a few things in response to your podcast.

While the company was officially created mid-2006, we only officially launched the public beta 4 days ago. Wasn't sure when you said "went public" if you meant IPO (I wish!) or just the launch of the product. By the way, our first press release is available online if you're interested: http://www.chinswing.com/downloads/ChinswingPressRelease2006-12-07.pdf

Re the recording tool. It certainly contains no spyware or adware (todo: mention that on the site!). The mechanism that launches the recorder is simply the same as any "Skype Me" or "Add to iTunes" button found all over the web. Nothing sinister. The decision to go with a desktop recording tool rather than using Flash Media Server (like Odeo and others) came out of a few factors. All programming/layout/graphic design has been done by me, and my skills only go so far. I did explore that avenue though. The main issue is converting the proprietary file format into mp3. The company that licenses the (expensive) decoding algorithms weren't really helpful :( Overall it was about cost (especially in the beginning), flexibility (we can offer much more functionality with desktop software eventually), scalability (we use Amazon S3 at the backend, which wins out over a Flash backend in many ways IMHO) and time to market. The issue will be explored further however. Keep in mind it's only an early beta version ;-)

By the way, a simpler description of Chinswing is: A message board that uses voice instead of text, where the discussions can be subscribed to via RSS/podcast feeds. I didn't think you quite got that across clearly enough. It is also a whole lote more than that of course, but I'll spare you the hype ;-)

Anyway, I'm glad you like the concept. Thanks for spending cerebral processing time thinking and talking about it! I too am looking forward to some passionate discussions on Chinswing!

Cheers,
Dean.
