Firefox 2 Release Candidate 3 Now Available
This has moved fast, very fast. It was only the other day that RC2 became available and this could well be the one that will be released as Firefox 2. The original plan was for three release candidates.
You could try using Firefox 2 now with some assurance that 99% of bugs and errors are fixed. I am planning to wait a bit until I know that my theme and extension will function correctly. But if you want to give it a spin, go ahead all reports are good and some people have been using it for a while now.
Thanks to CyberNet Technology News for getting the jump on this. You can link to the FTP or if you don’t want to do that the good guys at CyberNet Technology News have put together a downloader for the right language and version.
Rumor is that October 24th is the official release date.

Go ahead. You say you’re planning to wait a bit for your extensions to catch up, but take it from me they’ve mostly caught up. Especially if you know how to bump a few. Even the big & fabulous TBE works, once you’ve bumped it, though it does display one or two pop-up cautions. I run about 25 or 30 extensions myself.
—As for bumping, I think everyone knows by now, but basically you right-click your extension to download it instead of install it. Then you get your 7-Zip (or equivalent), open the archive and go for “edit”, where you look for the RDF install file—piece of cake; it’s staring right at you—and then you look for the “max version” which you change from, say, 1.5, to 2.2 or 2.6 or 2.9 or whatever suits you. Then save. Then drag into your extensions group.
—First time takes 5 minutes. Subsequently you can do an extension in maybe 30 seconds, plus apparently using your brain diminishes your chance of getting Alzheimer’s. So do FF 2.0 now, for the sake of your health. By the way, 2.0 is a very nice browser.

Carson, thanks for the great tip. I will be a bit more excited about the pending release now.
I knew there was a process by which you could make ext’s compat. but have not looked into it. Time is a valuable comodity!
I am looking forward to the better integration of RSS and a few other things. Do you know the state of affairs with themes?
Thanks again for helping us out here at the GGP.
