New Version of Skype - If you are Game

Bit late with this one, but between the wiring in the house eaten by a mouse and birthdays I’ve been busy. But a day or so ago Skype in a very stealth like manner released a “pre-beta” of Skype 2.6!

Yup you read that right: a pre-pre release, release… did that make sense? As usual it comes with the warning that this is not the final version and you will more than likely find that there are issues. So for those that are game don’t say you were not told.

At this early stage and according to the current change log it looks to me that my biggest wish has not been fulfilled; that of a record button. But it looks like they are including Skypecasts in the interface and integration with Firefox and IE come as standard. Don’t know that I am all that crazed about these features as I probably would not install them if I had the choice. I am yet to join a Skypcast that is on and working. Sebastian says that he has - I think it is my time-zone. The other thing is that I don’t like applications making assumptions about what I want it to integrate with. All the other changes and bug fixes can be found in the change log.

If you want to participate in this version then head on over to the Skype Developer Zone for 2.6. There are specific details about how to give feedback. This is a test version and there is not support for it, so unless you consider yourself a “super-user” of Skype I would leave this one alone and wait for the beta. Have fun the rest of you.
